Ahhh...Childhood

Now bare with me. By no means are the below images examples of stellar animation, but they do bring back awfully fond memories.
Along time ago, back before I knew anything about the principles of animation, there was a time where I couldn't wait till the fall line up of new cartoons was released.

I remember checking the newest tv guide every Sunday to see what new cartoons were going to be coming on.

I vaguely remember a video game line up on Saturday mornings which had The Pac Man family as the headline.
I remember watching the Smurfs religiously.

And I remember, with great fondness, when my mother bought me a brand new Blue Falcon and Dynomutt lunch box to go back to school with.

Sadly, or gratefully, those days are long gone.

And although there are new compilations and box sets of some of these shows being released I think it's probably best that I don't pick them up and ruin what memories I have of them.

For those that are interested...

More my stuff

More drawings and doodles from yours truly. The one just below is from yet another story I'm working on. Perhaps I should just focus on one story at a time and actually finish it. Oh well, keeps me off the streets.

My Stuff

One of the main reasons I started this blog was to post things that I find inspirational.
Another main reason was to post some of my own work as well. I haven't really kept up that end of things.
So without further ado...
Below are some images from a story I've been working on staring my youngest daughter Ailís(Ailish). The text is complete. Now comes the monumental task of illustrating it.

Feel free to add comments to any of these if you like. Simply click where it says comments, at the bottom of each post.

The Muppets

An absolutely huge influence on my childhood. Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Labrynth, The Dark Crystal, I loved them all. It was a very sad day indeed when I learned of Jim Henson's passing. I felt a little older that day.
Regardless of who's doing what character or how poorly written the new movies are, showcasing these characters, one thing remains...

These characters LIVE. Upon seeing Kermit on Extreem Makeover Home edition I turned to my wife and said" Do you realize how amazing these people are? I mean How amazing the muppeteers are? Not once do you feel like there's some guy with his hand in a puppet.

I love the story of the time when the performers were having trouble with a child on the Sesame Street set. No threat would get this child to stay still until Kermit decided to talk to the child and ask her to behave. The child instantly responded and the scene was filmed.

These people behind the scenes are truly masters of their craft.

Good friend Mark Thornton suggested a good link for the Muppets.
Check out MUPPET CENTRAL.
Specifically the forums.
